------------------------------------
Hailing from Manchester Greg wilson has been at the forefront of the Uk's Dance music seen since.. well since before i was born anyhow! having had residencies at the legendary Wigan Pier and later The Hacienda, he formulated a unique sound from his early interests in black music that brought the new electro-funk sound of groups like the Peech Boys, D-Train and Afrika Bambaataa to packed out floors on a weekly basis.
As things grew he was given the opportunity to become the first ever DJ to mix two records on live TV for The Tube on the BBC which was hosted by a young Jules Holland...
Retiring from DJing in 1984 for a near 20 year period, he worked as a producer and manager for breakdance crew, Broken Glass which who feature on Street Sounds (UK electro) of which he was co-writer & producer to all but one of the tracks. 2003 saw Wilson returned better than ever launching his website www.electrofunkroots.co.uk which mapped the story of the electro-funk scene. Releasing Credit To The Edit in 2005 on Tirk featured some original Tape edit's and his more recent Credit To The Edit 2 is Gold!
Last time we saw him play was at Garden Party in Croatia - hard to beat that one! but if you haven't managed to catch his set then don't miss this opportunity to see him play his full reel to reel live show in this intimate space.
here's a taster..
